ITEC Nominated for a CRN Award

5th November 2018

ITEC is nominated for the Rising Star Award at the CRN Awards.

Hosted by CRN, the awards have been celebrating excellence within the UK’s tech industry for 25 years. ITEC is at a turning point in its 30 year history. Years of hard work and a series of acquisitions, has seen it expand into the fastest-growing technology company in the South West region with a revenue of £45 million. Being shortlisted for a CRN Award proves ITEC is a player to watch in the tech industry.

ITEC has kept its customers are the heart of everything they do, even as investments in Reflex Digital Solutions, MailaDoc, Copyrite Business, one of the largest managed print providers in the South of England and their IT Services subsidiary, Criterion IT has seen the company develop a nationwide reach with more than 3,500 customers.

Why We Were Nominated:

A Personal Touch

CRN recognises that despite a period of rapid growth, ITEC has maintained its core value of prioritising the customer and finding new ways to encourage smarter working. If we believe a possible investment will help our customers improve their own business, we will be interested in investing.

Once an investment has gone through, ITEC succeeds because of its unique business model. With a client service team of 21 Account Managers working across various regions in the UK, clients have personalised service and know that every time they pick up the phone, they’re familiar with the person helping them.

What makes ITEC really different is their account management and single point of contact right across all aspects of the ITEC service — printers, IT support and business continuity.”

Problem Solvers

The Rising Star award also recognises how ITEC thinks outside the box. With a 95% customer-retention rate, their innovative thinking helps customers maximise the products they implement. For example, they identified how Wollen Michelmore, a solicitors in Devon, needed to improve their document data storage as they were undergoing a period of rapid growth.

Working with Practice Director, Clive Meredith, ITEC automated the firm’s workflow and maximised the SOS Connect system at the heart of Wollen Michelmore. The original system was only 50% effective and frustrated staff. After ITEC’s advice, case management is now 75% paper free, 100% of documents are backed up and encrypted, and £1000s saved on document storage.

Digitisation has drastically improved data security, sustainability and the employee lives. ITEC’s problem solving skills brought Wollen Michelmore towards the modern way of working.

“Much of our activity is time-critical, so when things go wrong it’s a major inconvenience. But ITEC’s expertise and service have been consistently fantastic.”

People and Places

The CRN Award rewards staff retention and a diverse workplace. Bright young workers are fast-tracked into more senior positions, a strategy that invigorates the workplace.

Both Jamie Turner, Sales Order Processing Manager, and Abigail Lock, Sales Order Processing Team Leader, started in entry positions and have been promptly promoted.

“They asked me to become a permanent manager after following the successful temporary cover,” says Jamie. “It was really good. The opportunity came about and ITEC put their faith in me. It wasn’t like: ‘Can you do it?’ It was more like: ‘We think this would be something you’d be really good at’ and we hope you can develop the role as well as just stepping into it.

“Which I thought was a really good thing, the chance to make it my own. I really grateful for the opportunity and I’m still here now.”

“I thought a more senior position would be available to me eventually, but ITEC have been really good at managing my expectations and developing me by giving me more responsibility,” says Abbie. “They’ve been very good at pinpointing exactly when to give me more responsibility.

“It’s been a collaborative thing — I give them feedback myself that I am ready to take on more responsibility and equally they come back to me and say ‘we want me to do this for this reason and we feel you’re confident enough to do this’.”

And the company is aware of corporate responsibility and is always looking to benefit the local community. Employees take part in a variety of sports for charity including boxing matches, and have worked with the local OASIS academy-chain to fund and install a connection with a school in Uganda, letting pupils from different continents learn together.

Good luck to ITEC’s fellow nominees for the Rising Star Award at the CRN Awards.

The 25th CRN Awards will be on Thursday 15th November at Battersea Park Events Arena, London. Wish us luck.

Selecting ITEC as our Printer and now IT partner has been one of the best decisions I have made whilst working here.”
